In
1912, the Preston Carrying Company was started with the belief
that one day, trucks would replace horse drawn vehicles. The company
operated five-tonne chain driven trucks that were mainly used to
transport milk from the dairy farms of Thomastown and Epping to
Melbourne. The company also owned a Buick and would hire it out
on weekends to chauffeur people around the countryside. One weekend,
a passenger asked where she could buy a Buick. And so, Preston
Motors was born.
In 1948, Australia's own car, the Holden was launched and Preston
Motors was appointed distributor for the new car. Today, the
Preston Motors Group is lauded as one of the longest established
and most highly respected motor vehicle retailers in Australia,
with its Holden operations at Essendon North.
Mitsubishi and Suzuki operations are located at 1551 Sydney Road
Campbellfield. Preston Motors Brighton European is the latest
group aquisition, providing Sales and Service for the Peugeot
brand.
Also in 2000, Preston Motors became the first motor vehicle retailer
to offer a full 6-year/175,000 km warranty on every new vehicle
the company sells and a 3 year/175,000 km warranty on every used
vehicle, irrespective of make or model*. Today, the Preston Motors
Group is able to provide the most competitive pricing and after
sales service on all major volume-selling vehicle makes in Australia.
